Modified on Tue, 10 Sep at 2:33 PM

Creating a new content page in WordPress is a straightforward process. Here’s how you can do it step-by-step.

Step 1: Add a New Page

To create a new page, go to Pages > Add New from the WordPress dashboard.

Step 2: Enter a Title and Content

At the top, enter a Title for your page. Below that, use the Editor to add and format your content. You can:

- Add Text blocks.

- Use Headings, Lists, Quotes, etc.

- Insert Links, Buttons, and other elements.

To format text or add additional block types, choose from a variety of content blocks like paragraphs, images, videos, galleries, and more.

Step 3: Add Media (Images, Videos, Files)

To insert media such as images, select the image block and select Image. Then, you can:

- Add Existing Images: Choose images from the Media Library by selecting them and clicking Insert into Page.

- Upload New Images: Click Upload and either drag and drop files from your computer or click Select Files to browse for files to upload.

You can upload various media types, including:

- Images: JPG, PNG, GIF

- Documents: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, etc.

For images, make sure to fill out the Alt Text field in the media settings, as this helps with accessibility and SEO.

Step 4: Choose the Correct Page Template

In the Page Settings on the right-hand side, scroll down to the Page Attributes section. Here, you can:

- Select a Page Template. By default, use the Default Template unless your theme offers other options like full-width or custom templates.

Step 5: Set a Parent Page (Optional)

If you want this new page to be part of a hierarchy (for example, as a sub-page under another page), you can set a Parent Page. Under Page Attributes, select the desired parent page from the dropdown.

Step 6: Preview and Publish

Once you are happy with your content:

- Click Preview to see how the page will look on your site.

- If everything looks good, click Publish to make the page live on your website.

You’ve successfully added a new page to your WordPress site. Whether it’s a content page, a blog post, or an image gallery, WordPress makes it easy to create and manage pages with its intuitive editor.
